I've been wanting to dip into the world of mood boards (or inspiration, goal, or life boards). Essentially, to me, that means I gather photographs and textiles that inspire something in me or remind me of how I want my month, or life, to be like. It could be a feeling, a mantra, what I want to wear, how I want to feel, or how I want to eat. I think there is something special about gathering magazine clippings, writing quotes out by hand, and tacking up dried flowers or fabric scraps, but for now, Pinterest is my friend. After randomly scrolling around and liking photos that spoke to me without giving them too much thought, I can see that I want my September to feel cozy, warm, stylish, and homey, with some elements of nature and New England, possibly walks in the woods and trips to the flea market. I'm also journaling again and the quote struck a cord with me.
If only I had a pet fawn like Audrey Hepburn...
One of those being my cousin's daughter Daizey. (Side note: cousin's daughter seems so informal & removed! Can't someone come up with another term to use?) She spent the night and when she noticed that my scrapbook was lacking her face, she asked me to take some photos of her - and then my creative wheels started turning.

These are just quick Iphone shots but I love how they came out. She's very good at taking direction and her facial expressions are perfect!

We also decided to try to make a petal Mandala (like this). With Daizey's assistance, it turned into the slightly crazed mess you see above, but I like it anyway.

Walking down the aisles of a craft store and seeing hundreds of packets of paper, stickers, and colored tape was overwhelming. I am a "saver" by nature and I always have been, but for some reason there was a big difference between stacking years upon years of birthday cards, movie tickets, and letters in a box and cataloging it by gluing it to a page and searching for coordinating embellishments to surround it with. 2015 rolled around and I changed my tune. Scrapbooking has suddenly been turned on to a younger crowd and I have jumped straight onto that bandwagon.

I heard about Project Life sometime in December of last year and was intrigued by the simplicity of the whole system. Not in the mood to glue a bunch of photos to a scrapbook page? No need. The clear pages come with multiple slots in various sizes and shapes. At my laziest, all I need to do is make sure the photos I'm including are printed to size to fit into one of the slots on my page. I bought a large pack of Design A to start (4 6x4 slots, and 4 3x4 slots) and have been happy with the layout. Project Life also offers card kits, which are decorative pages designed to fit into your slots. I've found them handy for including anything hand written (I've been documenting which books I've read each month), and are also great for gluing or taping down smaller items like movie tickets.

I bought my Project Life materials on Amazon, and my actual scrapbook at Target (the Project Life brand pages fit into most standard sized scrapbooks.)

Creating my pages has been a great reminder of small accomplishments and good memories and I'm excited to be able to look back at my completed scrapbook at the end of this year.
Can we have a chat about this Fall collection? I saw the yellow dress posted on Pinterest shortly after it's debut on the runway and audibly gasped. It's completely gorgeous. (You can't tell from this photo but it's patterned with squirrels and owls. Perfect.) The collection is fairy tale inspired - easy seen in the furs, hoods, jewel tones, ornate gold embellishments, and woodland creatures. I approve. To see more photos, check out this post.
One of the biggest comforts for me during the last few months has been knowing that the crazy thoughts and emotions that I'm dealing with are not the first. Others have been through this and come out the other side in one piece. I'm learning to be kind to myself again and forgive myself for not being okay. I'm also constantly reminding myself to fake it until I make it. Here are a few of the words I read - multiple times a week (or day, depending on how things are going)!

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in color "Trooper". $18. Achieve eye perfection with this high-pigment, waterproof liner that stays put all day for a fade-, melt-, crack-, and run-resistant finish. The superfine and flexible brush tip glides across the lashline for incredibly fluid application, allowing you to create a variety of looks with ease. Unlike traditional felt tip liners, this brush tip will not fray. (Sephora Website)

Do you watch far too many Youtube tutorials on how to get a winged eye look? Yeah, that was me and I still failed miserably almost every time. I had come to the conclusion that liquid eye liners were the devil and the women (and men) who could create a clean line with them were sorcerers. I could never get the pen close enough to my lash line, the wing was always too thick, and the stupid thing smudged like heck by the middle of the day. Granted I do have oily skin and a bit of a shaky hand but still, that many practice tries should have given me at least a decent shot! I had all but given in to the fact that this was my cat eye destiny, until I gave this baby a shot.

This eyeliner is gold. I can't explain how it solved all my problems but it did. I chalk it up to the brush tip itself. While most liquid eyeliner pens have a fine felt tip not unlike a Sharpie marker (which in theory sounds great. Who hasn't been tempted to Sharpie their eyes at one point or another?), the Tattoo liner has individual brush hairs so it functions like the smallest, most delicate paint brush at the art store. It's like calligraphy for your eyelids. For the first time in my makeup wearing life, I can use ONE eye lining product to get the job done and I can feel confident in the fact that I'll be able to create a wearable look in the 45 seconds I have to spare before I need to be out the door. It's one of those products that you just have to use and feel to understand. The smooth application of that "flick" at the end is just all too satisfying.

Now, if only more colors would be released... I'm itching for a deep navy or burgundy shade. (Note - Kat Von D does offer other colors in her "Lightning" Liner line, but I've heard mixed reviews on that formula and have not tested them out yet.)

Disclaimer: Kat Von D Cosmetics is owned by the Sephora brand, which is not cruelty free. If you are an animal loving consumer who avoids companies who do not test on animals but are owned by a company who does, unfortunately Kat Von D does not fit in with your morals!Brittanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15221197084503334756noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8829333962094997104.post-41654494758943987742014-09-25T08:48:00.001-07:002014-09-25T08:48:12.789-07:00Etsy Reopening - Itsy Bitty ShopIn the past I've really enjoyed my Etsy shop. I got a little frustrated with the difficulty of packaging and safety mailing vintage breakables and eventually decided to take a break from listing. But, I'm back! (From the Too Faced website.)

I doubted it. So many products come with a too-good-to-be-true description and an army of beauty guru's praising them on social media and still don't deliver what they promise once I test them - after spending what I consider to be way too much money for a tiny amount of product. Compared to most women who would classify their skin as "oily", I would say mine is worse. At least this summer. Between the heat and some hormonal issues, my skin has gone into overdrive. I had been using setting sprays and powders in the mornings, going through multiple blotting sheets before late afternoon and returning home after work with my makeup literally sliding around under my finger tips. What could this product do that all the others couldn't?

Answer: everything.

After seeing one of my favorite Youtube queen's (Claire Marshall - bow down!) rave about this product, I decided to give in and shell out of the $30.00 on Sephora.com. This product does what it says - plain and simple. I don't worry about making my foundation cover every little imperfection because I know that this will finish the job. My huge (and I do mean huge) pores look like a "normal" persons. Plus I'm blotting maybe once at lunch time. If I apply this again halfway through the day, my makeup is still holding strong when I get home at the end of the day. I blot (don't swipe!) this on and trust that it will do what it says. You could have had me sold with that alone, but Too Faced is also one of my current favorite cruelty free brands. Not many high end brands are certified and proudly mark their boxes with PETA's seal of approval. (And yes, I know that PETA is not the strictest with their certifications in the cruelty free world, but Too Faced does pass my personal moral requirements.) The e.l.f. HD Powder claims similar effects and I would just like to go on the record and say that while the e.l.f. powder is much less expensive, it does not even begin to compare.

Buy it here and thank me later.

My summer 2013 project.

I wouldn't say that summer of 2013 was the best summer of my life, but looking back at the clips in this video I realize that it was pretty darn beautiful. I have amazing family and friends that I seem to always be surrounded with. New England and the places I traveled to are beautiful. I'm so glad I decided to challenge myself with creating this little video. It helped me practice my editing skills and I must say, I'm pretty proud of it. Of course, my family adored it and immediately wanted to know when the fall edition would start filming.

The flea market has been full of beautiful 1950's dining tables with matching chairs. Swoon. The coral chairs were around $20 a piece and the aqua set with four chairs below sold for $60. I had taken a look at it during my first trip around the market and asked about it. $75 and the chairs had some pretty large torn bits. But, for a collector with the space, $60 was amazing! My cousin ended up buying the two little aqua and glass lamps on the table, below.

I can't resist colorful vintage water glasses. I got these for $1 a piece. The funky red poodle is actually a vase! I put a gerber daisy in him when I got home and the water slowly leaked all over my desk. I guess the years have made him spring a leak. But, for 50 cents he was well worth it.

The whole huge box of blue vintage glasses was only $5. It had way more than I needed so I gave quite a few to my cousin and am keeping some out to sell sometime this summer. I've been collecting this style of glassware for a while but haven't come across any blue so I was really happy with the price!

Until next time!
Vintage couches, Pyrex, and lots of lamps. The flea market is still my favorite place to be in the summer. (Okay, maybe after the ocean. But, treasure hunting is exciting and the ocean is relaxing so they're on totally different levels.) I've found some amazing things so far this season!

This crazy 1960's couch was at the Goodwill. The ladies at the checkout were snickering when I gasped at how awesome it was. Everyone there hated it! After I posted this photo to Instagram I had multiple people asking where it was for sale. At least my Insta-friends have taste! This gem did not go home with me for multiple reasons. It was about $150 for both the couch and the lounge chair, it was super uncomfortable, and it wouldn't fit in the car. Not to mention my storage unit is about ready to explode vintage all over the place.

I found this piece of Pyrex at a junk store in South Carolina while I was visiting my grandparents. Since we flew down and our airline only allowed one carry-on item, it stayed down there with them. Next time someone drives to visit my grandparents they're bringing it back for me! I had never seen this pattern before. It's called Brown Onion and this one had the original caddy. I think I payed $6 or $7 for it.

I spotted this cool drawer unit at the same junk store and snapped a photo for a DIY inspiration. I love that it looks like a tool chest! It was priced really high, but I think I could recreate this with some metallic contact paper or tin ceiling tiles from the hardware store.

These drinking glasses also stayed behind on our visit to South Carolina. I believe they were once sold as promotion jelly jars. I liked the pansy pattern and thought they would be a good addition to my vintage drinking glass collection. From what I've researched, they were made by Anchor Hocking. Although, now that they are in storage in South Carolina I can't confirm! I found them at a storage unit yard sale and payed $2 for all three. I've never come across anything like those sales before. People rent these units and just open up their doors and have little shops inside where they sell things every weekend.

These two lamps were my DIY project for last month. I got them each for under $5 at the Salvation Army. They don't look like much here, but I painted them both black and they turned out pretty cool. If only I had remembered the "after" photo...

This giant black and yellow patterned lamp was only $2 at the flea market and I couldn't say no. It is massive and the pattern is really interesting. Some of the black paint is chipping to reveal more yellow where it shouldn't be, but I actually think it adds a cool look to it.

And, last but not least - the belt buckle. I got this for my brother at a yard sale for $1. We are not Honda fans in car form, but my brother is a fan of their motorcycles and has been on a belt buckle kick lately.

Have any of you been going to yard sales/thrift stores/flea markets lately? I'd love to see your finds!

This post has been a long time coming. This is my therapy session. It will most likely be a mess of unfinished thoughts. But I'm getting them out there.

Saying goodbye to a pet is such a bizarre experience for those of us who think of our animals as family. People feel sorry, but don't always understand the magnitude of the situation. How unstable and lost you feel. My Pitou was my best friend. I know I'll never have the same relationship with another living thing that I did with him. He was special. And maybe you think that's what everyone thinks of their dog, but mine really was. He took care of me when I was young. When I grew up, I took care of him in his old age.

Pitou had two near death experiences in his life. The first was a mystery disease that my family refused to give up on. Our veterinarian was all but ready to tell us to end his suffering but we insisted on a referral to another animal hospital who diagnosed him correctly and saved his life. During the time that he was sick, I said my goodbyes and distanced myself. I was younger at the time and it was too much for me to handle. Having him cured was like a new life. The second incident was more sudden and scared me to the core. It's still something I don't like to think of because it tears me up inside. Even with both of these experiences, I wasn't numb to losing him. He lived to be 15 and a half and although I tried to ready myself it still shocked my system when he died.

I wanted desperately for him to fall asleep at home and not wake up. I prayed for it so often in those last few days. In the end, it more or less did happen that way. I'm having a hard time typing this post because when I start a sentence about his suffering my mind tells my fingers to erase the words. It's too damn hard to continue with those sentences.

(Pitou went through a phase of pink mohawks while I was in high school, as seen in the first photo.)

The days after he was gone were so strange. He was sick for a long time and was really all I thought of. I went to work, but that was mostly it. I called home to whomever was around while I was away to check on him constantly. I had to hold myself back from calling too often. I inspected and logged every bit of food, water, and sleep he had. I didn't sleep through the night. I woke up early in the mornings to rest my hand on his side to see if he was still breathing. He consumed my every thought. Friends and family would ask me if I wanted to go on weekend trips with them and I couldn't say yes, even if they were months away. It was hard to say the reason, but I couldn't plan them without knowing if Pitou would be gone yet or not. When he finally died I just didn't know what to do with myself. I continued to worry about him despite my best efforts to believe he was finally resting. The night he was buried I had a panic attack when it started snowing because I didn't want him to be cold. Being his care giver was hard to let go of.

A couple weeks after he passed, my mom found a bit of his fur in the fence outside our front door. We did most of his grooming's at home and the bits of fur were from his last haircut, which hadn't been for months. Maybe that should have been a nice thing to find but it was like a punch in the gut. I remember holding it crying and saying "he was just here." It was so strange to have seem so gone and to have found this piece of him. I carry that bit of fur in a clear locket around my neck now. I get questions about it more often than I would like. It's getting easier to answer them, though. People don't have to understand. In fact, they don't need to. I'm comforted in knowing that few people have as special of a bond with their dog as I did.

I had this portrait started before Pitou got sick and it was completed shortly after he died. The timing was impeccable. I have it framed on my desk and am also having it printed on canvas to go in a frame in my bedroom. (The artist, Gia, blogs here.)

Sometimes getting these words out of my head helps. I still cry. I still feel like I'm forgetting to do something when I have time to relax or go away for the weekend. I still panic when I can't find my locket. I cry when I see dogs that even mildly remind me of him. I'm meticulous about the neatness of his grave, even though I've only brought myself to sit by it twice in the last four months. I cry when I hold my mom's dogs because they just don't feel the same. I still cry when I drive down certain roads because they now hold bad memories. I'll cry when it snows for the first time next winter because I know how much Pitou loved it. But the years I had with Pitou were worth every bit of pain I feel now and there's no doubt in my mind about that.

Summer in New England has always meant soft serve ice cream with jimmies. My first cup was a 2013 milestone and now I'm hooked! I've been trying to eat healthier, but I can't say no to ice cream! I know that it's not technically summer yet, but I don't care! Ice cream = summer!
My favorite seasons are upon us! Spring and summer make me feel alive again! The weather is warm, there are animals all around, and the flea markets and yard sales are in full swing. I've been going to the flea market every Sunday and have found some great treasures! I only happened to snap photos of a few things, but I am going to make a habit out of photographing them all to share. Here's a few of my favorite finds from the past couple weeks.

I finally found a diner style vintage table! My mom and I stopped in at a garage sale in our town and were browsing around chatting with the people hosting. They were selling a lot of their great aunt's things after she had passed away. I was carrying around a couple clear glass Pyrex bowls and some vintage deer figurines when I bent down to check out a box of jewelry and I saw it. There was a red metal table hiding under a pile of junk. I took a chance and asked and yes, it was part of the sale. The woman was so nice and told me to offer something very low - they just wanted their great aunts things to go to someone who would appreciate them. I ended up getting the table, two chairs, and the bowls and deer I already had in my hands for $25.00. WHAT. So happy! The wood paneling you see in the photo is actually just contact paper. I tore that off at home to reveal the white metal underneath.

The huge frame was found at my towns recycling center. I've been searching for a huge frame to display all my Postal Pix and this will do the trick perfectly! It used to hold a mirror, but the mirror cracked so someone put it in the free room. I will probably DIY it into something similar to this.

This lamp. I mean, are words needed? I took my cousin to the flea market for the first time and we found this gem. We both love E.T. so I knew one of us was going home with it. My cousin snagged it for $10.00 (without negotiating - she's a bit of a newbie, but it was worth every penny!). This is one of those things that is so ugly it's awesome.

I've been wanting a big furniture-style record player for years! I found this one at a yard sale and got it for $25.00. It's a 1960's Magnavox and it sounds amazing! It's going to live in my mom's living room until we find a house because it's too cool to go into storage.

And last, this huge screen was found in the dumpster behind my office. We work above a coffee shop and the employees had thrown their garbage in after whoever dumped this beauty so it was stained with coffee grounds but I'm going to replace the fabric and it will be good as new! It's six panels and I can't wait to separate a room with it!

Have you been thrifting, flea marketing, or yard saling this year? I'd love to hear about your treasures!

Hi guys! Long time, no talk! My love of trying new makeup products has grown so much in the last few months and I'm having so much fun with it. I've been really exploring the animal cruelty - free world and have discovered a few new (to me) brands. These are my favorite new products:

Milani Easy-Brow Pencil : Shade 03 Natural Taupe
I went back and forth between this shade and 02 Dark Brown but decided to give the taupe a try since I had recently read that you should buy your eyebrow products in a color a shade lighter than your natural brow color. Plus, my hair recently went to an even lighter shade of bleach blonde and I wanted something a little less dramatic. This pencil has been great! It is a twist up pencil, so there is no sharpening necessary and it has a spoolie brush on the other end for super quick blending and brushing. It's available for $5.49 on the Milani website, but I found mine at CVS. (I think I payed a little over $7.00 for mine in store.)

e.l.f Studio High Definition Powder : Translucent
I'm a huge fan of e.l.f. products, especially anything from their Studio collection and this did not disappoint. I had been on the hunt for a good loose powder to set my makeup and heard rave reviews about this one "blurring" imperfections. I'm not sure that it blurred as much as I was expecting, but it definitely adds a softening effect. There is also a corrective yellow shade as well as a shimmer version available on the e.l.f. site and all shades are $6.00. I bought mine at Target (I've also seen it at Walmart) for the same price.

NYX Powder Blush : Pinched
I have never been impressed with blushes. I found that even though I have pale skin, they never showed up the way I wanted them to. Then I found the Wet 'n Wild Color Icon blushes, which showed up great but were so highly pigmented I found them difficult to apply. I had heard that this particular shade in the NYX Powder Blush line was comparable to the highly praised NARS Orgasm, so I gave it a go. It is gorgeous! It's a very pretty coral pink shade with some warm shimmer to it. It goes for $5.00 on the NYX website, but it's currently sold out. I found mine on Amazon.com for around the same price.

NYX Round Lipstick : Chic Red
I am a red lipstick collector. I gravitate toward them and I can't help myself. Even so, I was convinced that I didn't own the perfect shade of red worked well with both my pale complexion and my not always blindingly white smile. Chic Red is all of that for me. I was pleasantly surprised that it is also long lasting even though it's not advertised to be a long wear formula. Available for a crazy $4.00 on the NYX website (along with another 123 extremely tempting shades). I grabbed mine on Amazon.com for a bit more.

Real Techniques Makeup Brushes : Expert Face Brush
I have been hearing rave reviews about the Real Techniques brushes and always assumed they would be pricey - good thing I finally looked into them! This particular brush sells for $9.00 on the Real Techniques site and has quickly surpassed every other brush I own. I have been applying my foundation and blending in my concealer with the Expert Face Brush and am noticing that I'm using so much less product than I did with a sponge. The bristles are stiff enough to blend the product in but soft enough to be comfortable on skin. I will definitely be buying more of these brushes - I'm itching to order the whole Core Collection. I found mine on Amazon.com for a similar price as the website.

While, I've got you here : I found a fantastic article on animal testing. What exactly it means, why it even exists, and what to look for in a product to ensure that your money isn't being used to pay for these tests to be done. Check out The Truth About Cruelty Free Beauty - Part One : What Is Animal Testing? And don't worry, the article is truthful and informative without being too graphic.
It's something I've been wanting to do for a while, and I think now is a good time. I need some distraction from life. So, my first video is live on my Youtube channel! I'm a little nervous about it but I think it will be fun! We booked bus tickets, a hotel for a night, grabbed my best friend, and left. It was good to get away from such bad memories and a suddenly too quiet house.

We had cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery (How I missed REAL butter cream frosting!) and mostly just walked and felt the city. There is nothing like waking up in the morning and walking out onto a busy, sunny NYC street. I absolutely adore it.
We went to the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market and it was amazing. We immediately decided that our next NYC trip will consist of flea markets only.
And the best part of the trip - I got to cross something off my bucket list and eat breakfast at Tiffany's on Sunday morning. I hummed moon river on the cab ride to 5th avenue and then looked in the window at the pretty diamond key necklaces. I was in heaven.

Now that I'm home, all the emotions that I was avoiding have caught up to me and I'm having a difficult time. Keeping busy seems to be the only thing that keeps my mind in an okay place.

Thank you for the sweet distraction, New York.
Office life. 9-5. Working the grind. I'm always looking for ways to make my work space a little happier. My desk is sort of comical. It's colorful and full of oddities. I have an empty glass coke bottle, tiny dog figurines, a wooden bobble aardvark (I think?), and a ton of photos, cards, and children's drawings. Other than all of those gems... These are my favorite things right now!

1. Pretty, bright flowers. The ones Christopher brought me for Valentines day are still going strong. Fun fact, I work in the same office as my mom and he brings her some every year too. Too cute! (Image Source)

2.) I like to have a few inspirational quotes around. They calm me. My favorite right now says "Note to self: RELAX. You are enough. You have enough. You do enough." I say this in my head like a mantra when I'm reaching my limit. (Image Source)

3.) Pink scissors. If you need to have them, they might as well be pretty. (Available here)

4.) Lunch container. I've been bringing lunch to work every day for over a month now to save money. I love being able to snack on healthy stuff throughout the day so I'm not famished when I get out. This one is awesome! I'm obsessed with it.

5.) Stress oil. I've been using this for the past few weeks and love it. After my hair stylist/cousin noticed that my hair was suddenly falling out from the stress of things going on at home, she ordered me Past Tense tension roll on oil. The smell alone works, but it also releases tightness in my shoulders and neck. I use it most at work, but also keep it in my purse.

6.) A candle that smells like nature. I have the Yankee Candle Beanswax one in Field of Dreams on my desk. Unfortunately, the wax is so low it no longer burns...this is my favorite scent ever and it is now discontinued. The dry wax still smells nice and I get a good whiff of it now and then. (I do have one jar packed away for when we buy a house - SO TEMPTING!)

7.) Skull Candy ear buds. Our office is small and usually filled with volunteers, interns, and loud employees so these are a must. Sometimes, I even just put them in my ears without plugging them into anything since they are great for noise cancelling.

8.) Lotion. I'm really bad at remembering to moisturize at home. When I'm sitting at my desk and need a break, that's usually the first thing I reach for. I have travel sizes of Bath and Body Works and Victoria's Secret lotions stashed.

9.) Travel tumbler with straw. My office recently got a water cooler and it was a big deal. I pack my cup full of ice in the morning and fill up when I get to work. My cup actually has babushkas all over it, but I wouldn't turn down the Kitty either.

10.) Volkswagen Bug USB drive. Or as I like to call them, computer sticky thingies. This one's headlights flash when it's plugged in. Enough said.

11.) Leopard file folders. These are probably my favorite thing at my desk. I have a super obsession with anything leopard and they make me happy every time I file anything. Money well spent.

12.) Insulated lunch bag. To go with my nifty lunch container. Insulated, so I don't have to worry about it fitting into the tiny office refrigerators. And, it's cute. When I leave work it just looks like a little handbag.
Do you work in an office? What are some of the things that keep you smiling while you're putting in your hours?
(No time for anything except work and dealing with the personal stuff at home.) But, I did get a chance to quickly post a couple new items last week. One being this striped strawberry print skirt.

Isn't it adorable? If I weren't trying to purge my closet, I totally would have kept it. It reminds me of something that Cher Horowitz would have worn. To anyone interested, sorry! It sold almost immediately. But, I did post a couple of other cute things. One being an awesome vintage floral print suitcase.

p.s. - did you guys see that Urban Decay is having their friends and family sale? I finally bought their Naked Palette and am absolutely thrilled for it to arrive! My frugal side is only feeling the tiniest bit guilty. Even with the sale, the prices are far more than what I would usually spend on myself. When someone in my office asked if I wanted anything from the burrito place down the street I had to decline since I had just spent my weekly spending allowance on eyeshadow...
(My new pixie - what do you guys think?)

I was at my cousin's salon this weekend getting my hair done when I was told that I was losing a lot more hair than was normal. No new medications, no weird changes with my hair routine... it turns out that stress is the cause. What a slap in the face. I've been trying to hold myself together and put a smile on my face and my body has to go ahead and out me. I haven't been sleeping, I've been having anxiety attacks at night, and now my hair is proving it. I'm using a new tension aromatherapy oil and trying to breathe more. For now, those are the only changes I can make. To hide some of the damage, I went for a pixie. I've wanted to go short again for months anyway, but was thinking of waiting until I went darker so it's not a huge issue for me. In fact, I love it.

I'm trying hard to be in the Christmas spirit, but man is it hard for me right now.

Work is crazy as it always is this time of year. I'm at least a part of sending out four large (I'm talking thousands upon thousands) mailers that all need to be out within a two week time span.

My dog, Pitou, is still sick. We don't have a cancer diagnosis yet, but we don't not have one. On top of everything, last weekend he fell into a frozen garden pond in our yard. It was the single most horrible experience of my life so far. My entire family was in panic and shock trying to carefully warm him up and I think for a few minutes we all thought we were losing him. It brings me to tears just typing that out. He's recovered from that incident, but is still worrying us with his "cold". Or at least, we hope that's all it is.

My mom and I were in a small car accident this past weekend while out Christmas shopping. We were rear ended at a light. We both blacked out for a few seconds and got instant headaches and incredibly sore necks. Thankfully, we are both feeling the same pains in the same exact areas and are slowly feeling better, so it is most likely only a mild case of whiplash.

I've talked to both sets of my Grandparents this week and am so incredibly sad to be spending Christmas without them. It breaks my heart and really ruins the holiday for me. Knowing the traditions we always had won't happen is really a bummer...

The school shooting has been on my mind so often these last few days. I can't get it out of my head. I'm having a difficult time getting into a holiday mood while knowing that these families are hurting so much.

What a scrooge I've turned into. I am desperately trying to pull it together and get back to my holiday loving self as you can see from my Instagram photos.

I'm wishing you all a stress free Christmas (and the same for myself!).
Christmas Wish ListI am the easiest person to shop for. I'm one of those people that would be legitimately thrilled if someone gifted me with something like a bottle of glitter, chocolate chip cookies, or a light up tooth brush. Thrilled. Actually, I'm the kind of person that could be gifted a forest green XXL Hanes sweatshirt and be happy that the person even thought of me. Still, I'm a list maker at heart so a Christmas wish list was bound to happen. My mother saw it and swears that it is too short and she wants more ideas. The woman spoils me to death no matter how hard I try to stop her. Anyway, peruse...enjoy...
Thinking about change. I recently left one of my part time jobs and picked up a few more hours at my other. At least for the next couple of months, I'm left with a four day work week. Scary, because I am a fan of my savings account, and also exciting. The possibility of having time to work on other things is nice. I could paint more, work on my Etsy shop, take a photography class, volunteer...

Wishing Christopher and I could build a home from the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company. I dream of building one of these far back on my parents land. Maybe one day... It's certainly nice to think about!

Watching Gilmore Girls. Yep - still! I'm powering through those seasons like it's my job, though. Especially since I'm still not up to 100% since I got sick.

Listening to nothing, really. Music has taken a back burner. Even in my car, I've been listening to whatever is on the radio. My mind is so full of thoughts I can't concentrate on anything else.

Loving my dog, Pitou. He's getting up there in age and has been sick and worrying about him has been giving me major anxiety. I love him always, but seeing your best friend under the weather and wondering if this is going to be the end really opens your eyes up to it.

Looking forward to Thanksgiving! Christopher and I are house/pet sitting and we get to go home on Thanksgiving morning. I can't wait to be back at home with Pitou. My mom is doing a great job taking care of him, but I want to be there to help with getting him to take his meds and feeding him warm liquids. We've also been giving him steams to help clear up his nose. Poor baby.
