Last Wisps of Summer - What I Wore

I love the in-between Summer and Autumn weather. The air is so crisp and clean but the sun still keeps everything warm. The world must have knew I needed good vibes because everyone seemed to be just a tiny bit sweeter to me. To put it the best way I can, a usually harsh and not terribly complimentary coworker told me that I'm the type of girl her granddaughters would think was a princess. Another coworker agreed and followed up by saying that my soul was equally as beautiful as my looks. I don't think compliments get much better than those.

Bo was looking sweetly at me from his playpen so I decided to sneak him in for a guest appearance...

Polka Dots & Whoopie Pies - What I Wore

Word flew around the office that there was a new bakery in town that had a salted caramel whoopie pies. My mom and I went on a bit of a scavenger hunt for them since we didn't know the name of the shop and when we finally found it...we bought three. I'm told that whoopie pies are a New England only thing and I would just like to say, if you don't live in New England you are missing out!

I have been in a polka dot mood. On a more relaxed day at the office I tried out my new wrap dress with a jean jacket and leggings. The dress is so short, I'm not sure how anyone could possibly wear it any other way...

What I Wore - Carnival Date

Dating is hard. I should elaborate. Having a boyfriend for four years is one thing, but finding the time to actually go out on a date when your schedules clash? Impossible. We live together, but it's a huge surprise if we ever have a day/night off at the same time. Last Friday after work we were both free so Christopher and I gave it a shot and went to the fair. I love this fair. I have the best memories of this fair from when I was young! Alas, it ended up being sort of a bust because 1.) Christopher doesn't do rides. 2.) It was daytime. Nobody wants to ride the ferris wheel or hang around when there are no pretty lights on the rides. 3.) I was tired from working all day. Oh well... We did walk down to the river just behind the parking lot and then to dinner and ice cream afterwards. Christopher played paparazzi to my slightly irritated self. Oh vacation time, you are much wanted!

What I Wore: Thursday Office Attire

I go through phases where I'm really bad at being office appropriate. I work in two fairl casual office settings so it's not usually an issue that I just can't stand the black pencil skirt, white shirt thing all the time. Sometimes, a girl just needs neon flowers and sequined leopard print! I did wear a white crochet sweater over the dress to tone it down a bit, but that's all i could do. I just had to let my freak flag blow in the wind a bit.

Oh, and my animals were not far during these shots.
Bo supervised the photo process from his play pen on the back lawn.

What I Wore - Friday Edition

Iphone photos. I do not enjoy you. I don't know how so many bloggers find the time to take gorgeous photos of their outfits. Christopher is still sleeping when I leave for work and when I get home not only is he gone, but it is dark and not a good time for photos. So i resort to Iphone pictures. Maybe one day I'll get into a habit of doing them on weekends with a real camera without my dogs staring at me.

I am thrilled that it's Friday! This week seemed to drag on and on. I may try to sneak out of work a little early (maybe...) to do some thrifting before meeting family for dinner and then my mom and a friend for a movie. I've been hearing iffy reviews for Dark Shadows and I'm really hoping that I don't agree with them. My mom has been over the moon since she saw the first preview because she used to watch the TV show in the 70's. Nostalgia and Johnny Depp? Where do I sign up?

What I Wore - Kismet

A couple weeks ago I was shopping and decided to try on a few dresses. As i was searching for a few more, I found the most amazing floral printed, metallic, quilted, Marc Jacobs dress. I felt a little silly checking that $250.00 dress in with the lady at the dressing rooms along with my other $10.00 clearance ones but I knew I needed to try it on. I obsessed about it and then put it back. Could you imagine? That dress originally sells for around $550.00. Who has that kind of cash? Anyway, I snapped a few photos of it and glumly went on my way to the check out with a shower cap and a few pairs of new socks. God must have heard my cries because kismet struck! I found this skirt thrifting that very Sunday. Perfect condition, $7.99 price tag, and a Marc Jacobs label! I swear I had six different people in my office tell me how great it looked on me and a woman in a coffee shop at lunch even stopped at my table to tell me how amazing my outfit was. I was very happy to tell everyone who commented on it my kismet story. I swear I'm not making this up. It was pure kismet!

Apologies for the out of focus photos. I'm just now playing with my new lens from Christmas plus my remote had no batteries. Maybe I'm just trying making myself feel better about it, but I sort of like the blur! I thought the second to last looked way better with me out of focus!

Jeggings - $20.00, Target
Over the knee boots - $20.00, Elle for Kohls

Christopher and i are at the tail end of our week house sitting and i was alone this afternoon getting ready to go meet my mom and great uncle for some shopping. My uncle is handicapped and in a nursing home and really enjoys getting out so today we took him to the mall. (Note to self: must bring Uncle Donald to the mall during the Christmas shopping rush. Everyone gets out of the way for a girl pushing her uncle around in his wheelchair!) So, since i took my sweet time getting ready i thought i would take advantage of my nearly empty afternoon to take my very first outfit photos!

I've had a less than stellar week in the confidence department. My hair has refused to style easily, my skin is breaking out, and being away from home has messed with my regular routine a little (I usually share a hair straightener with my brothers girlfriend, for one). Today i decided to distract from my dull skin and attitude with Revlon's Colorburst Lip Butter. I had heard so many people talk about these lip colors, so i had to try one. I went for the brightest red in the bunch, Cherry Tart, and i have to say the hype is deserved! The color is sheer but not invisible like so many other glossy lipsticks.

The weekend is here and i've pushed myself a little to try to make a new friend. We have a "date" tomorrow night. I swear meeting new friends is harder than meeting men.
